LANE WORKFORCE PARTNERSHIP OFFERS YOUTH SCHOLARSHIPS

The Lane Workforce Partnership is announcing the availability of scholarships to young people accepted into a training program at a community college, university or private training institution.

The applicant's course of study must be in any of the following high growth areas:

• Health care occupations
• Computer technology and software development
• Manufacturing or State certified trade apprenticeship program

The amount of each scholarships awarded is up to $1,000 per applicant. This is the third round of scholarship awards to be made available by the Lane Workforce Partnership. Additional opportunities for scholarships will be scheduled in August 2006.

To qualify applicants must:

• Be between the ages of 17 and 21
• Be close to graduating from high school, have already graduated or attained a GED
• Must be attending the program as a registered student
• Have a specific career plan in one of the high-growth areas listed above
• Need assistance to cover tuition costs

The majority of scholarship awards will be for youth meeting the federal low-income guidelines. All scholarship awards will be based on the quality of application responses and documentation of the applicants' need for assistance.

Deadline for submitting a scholarship application is Wednesday, March 29, 2006.
