Lane County’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate dropped from 6.5 percent in January  to 6.1 percent in February. This is the lowest rate since June 2008 and continues a downward trend begun when the rate peaked at 12.8 percent in May 2009. Oregon’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was 5.8 percent and the national rate was 5.5 percent in February.

Seasonally adjusted total nonfarm employment increased by 400. This was the fourth consecutive monthly increase and the ninth increase in the last 12 months, indicating a steady upward trend.
