Elevate Lane County Industry Advisory Group
The Lane Workforce Partnership School to Career Task Team has transitioned to the Elevate Lane County Industry Advisory Group. The School to Career Task team was created in fall 2016 in response to the LWP Strategic Planning Meeting. The workgroup’s goal was to prepare youth for future employment and identified the following strategies to help meet that goal:
- Use technology to introduce youth to various jobs
- Increase paid work experience opportunities
- Increase awareness of workforce opportunities
- Create connections between industry and education
During this same time, Elevate Lane County funded by the Oregon Department of Education, was created with the mission to “Help Lane County meet the very real and immediate challenges of economic development, student achievement, and global competitiveness. Elevate Lane County wants to develop our most valuable resource – our people – helping them gain the skills, technical knowledge, academic foundation and real world experience they need to prepare themselves and our youth for high skill, high demand, high wage careers.”
Since the LWP goal/strategies and Elevate Lane County’s mission closely align and Elevate Lane County coordinates the bulk of work based learning opportunities, the transition was an easy solution to avoid duplication. The newly formed Elevate Lane County Industry Advisory group is comprised of past participating LWP industry partners and newly recruited industry partners. These representatives will meet quarterly to work towards the above Elevate Lane County mission and provide Elevate Lane County work based learning guidance, identify industry challenges with these efforts, assist with fundraising, and help promote Elevate Lane County to industry partners.
Participating Elevate Lane County Industry Partners: States Industries; IDX Broker; PeaceHealth; Andersen Construction; Northwest Community Credit Union; Swanson Group; Pivot Architecture; EWEB; Emerald Broadband; Lane County Medical Society; Delta Sand and Gravel; Lane ESD; Connected Lane County; and Lane Workforce Partnership.
