Workforce Resources in Response to COVID-19

COVID-19 is negatively impacting workers and businesses throughout our county and its effects will be felt for quite some time. Lane Workforce Partnership is closely monitoring resources that are available to us due to our status as the Workforce Development Board and will pursue those opportunities as they are made available.

Layoff Aversion Funds

Due to the novel coronavirus, COVID-19, the State of Oregon Higher Education Coordinating Commission Office of Workforce Investments (OWI) has released federal additional assistance funding thru the Local Workforce Board System throughout the state.

The federal Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act funds for layoff aversion activities are designed to prevent, or minimize the duration of, unemployment resulting from layoffs.

Based on the State of Oregon Two-week Freeze requirements beginning Wednesday, November 18, 2020, Lane Workforce Partnership will distribute a limited amount of Layoff Aversion Funds in Lane County to the following types of Lane County eligible employers with fewer than 20 employees:

  • Restaurants;
  • Bars;
  • Gyms;
  • Fitness organizations;
  • Other indoor recreational facilities

Lane County Employers interested in receiving funds should complete the Application Form below in its entirety (all fields are required) and submit to fiscal@laneworkforce.org by 5 PM on Wednesday, December 2, 2020.

Completed applications will be reviewed and verified by Lane Workforce Partnership staff. Upon receipt and verification of all applications, prioritization for funds will be given to veteran, minority and women-owned businesses.

Initial distributions will be made during the week of December 7, 2020. The following factors will be verified for every application:

  • Requests must be a result of the impact from COVID-19 on a Lane County employer.
  • Restaurants, Bars, Gyms, Fitness Organizations, and other Indoor Recreational facilities with fewer than 20 employees.
  • Limited to reimbursements for routine business support costs up to $2,500.
  • Amounts requested cannot be covered by other CARES Act federal or state programs related to COVID-19.
  • All fields are required and must be completed by requestor.
  • All requests must include a brief narrative describing the costs and how they will assist the business/organization

Debido al alto índice de casos de coronavirus, COVID-19, la Oficina de Inversiones de la Fuerza Laboral (OWI) de la Comisión Coordinadora de Educación Superior del Estado de Oregón, está ofreciendo fondos federales de asistencia adicional a través del sistema local de la junta de la administracion laboral en todo el estado. Los actividades del fondo del programa federal Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act están diseñadas para prevenir o minimizar la duración del desempleo resultante de los despidos. En respuesta del requierimiento del Estado de Oregon del Freeze de dos semanas emitido el miércoles, 18 de de noviembre de 2020, Lane Workforce Partnership distribuirá una cantidad limitada de fondos de aversión en el condado de Lane para los siguientes tipos de empleadores que sean determinados elegibles. Empleadores del Condado de Lane, con menos de 20 empleados: restaurantes , bares, gimnasios, organizaciones de fitness y otras instalaciones recreativas con actividades interiores. Los empleadores del condado de Lane interesados en recibir fondos deben completar el formulario de solicitud a continuación en su totalidad (favor de rellenar todos los campos ye que es obligatorio) y enviarlo por correo electronico a fiscal@laneworkforce.org antes de las 5:00 p.m. de la tarde el miércoles, 2 de Diciembre del 2020. Personal de Lane Workforce Partnership revisará y verificará las solicitudes completadas. Una vez recibidas y verificadas todas las solicitudes, se dará prioridad a los fondos a las empresas de veteranos, empresas de minorías y mujeres. Las distribuciones iniciales se realizarán durante la semana del 7 de Diciembre del 2020. Los siguientes factores serán verificados para cada aplicación:

  • Las solicitudes deben ser en resultado del impacto de COVID-19

  • Reembolso limitado por apoyo comercial de hasta $ 2,500
  • Fondos solicitados no pueden ser cubiertos por otros programas federales o estatales de CARES act relacionados con COVID-19.
  • Llenar todos los campos en el formulario es obligatorio y deben ser completados por el solicitante
  • Todos las solicitudes deben incluir una descripción breve de los costos y cómo van a ayudar a la empresa / organización
