Lane County’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was unchanged at 5.6 percent in May.  The rate had dropped five months in a row before leveling off in May and is down from 6.8 percent in May 2014.  Oregon’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was 5.3 percent and the national rate was 5.5 percent in May.

Seasonally adjusted total nonfarm employment decreased by 580.  This was the second consecutive monthly decrease.  There have been nine monthly increases in the last 12 months, indicating a break in an otherwise steady upward trend.
